Block 7, known as North Thekah, lies offshore the Nile Delta and is believed to potentially contain an extension of the Levant basin, where some big gas discoveries have already been made. Edison will operate this block in a 50/50 joint venture with Petroceltic.
The North Thekah licence is for an initial three-year term but is extendable up to a maximum of eight years.
