Cue chief exploration manager David Whittam told delegates at the Good Oil Conference in Fremantle, Western Australia on Tuesday that if successful, the Naga Utara-2 probe would be followed up by the Naga Utara-3 well.
“We have an option to drill back-to-back NU-3 and in that scenario, we can move this fairly quickly towards a potential development,” Whittam said.
Located in the Mahakam Hilir production sharing contract onshore East Kalimantan, Naga Utara-2 aims to appraise existing reservoirs discovered in the Naga Utara-1 well drilled last year, as well as explore deeper targets to establish commercial flow rates and quantities.
