The Beijing-headquartered state oil giant said that on Thursday itwould “make formal delivery today” for the acquisition, reports of which firstemerged during the summer.
The explorer said the entry would be “beneficial forPetroChina to achieve synergies with its other projects in Iraq and can helpthe company to develop a larger and stronger presence in the upstreamoperations in the Middle East”.
It also said it wanted the deal to kick off “a high-levelstarting and all-round strategic co-operation with other international oilcompanies in high-end oil markets”.
