After four years of work on the 292-kilometre pipeline, project operator ExxonMobil announced the completion on Friday.

The pipeline will transport natural gas from the Hides Gas Conditioning plant to the Omati River where it connects to the project’s offshore pipeline and then onto the LNG plant near Port Moresby.

Its diameter ranges from between 32 inches to 34 inches, and more than 250 billion cubic metres of gas is expected to pass through it during the life of the project.
