Poland’s government has approved a draft shale law to streamline regulations and permitting, cut tax rates and introduce a six-year tax-free exploration period.

The long-awaited proposals, which must still be endorsed by parliament, will see no tax charged on shale exploration until 2020.

From 2020 shale gas production will see a profit-based tax levied up to a maximum of 25%, with a separate extraction tax set to levy another 3% excluding certain cost deductions.

The
