The Mbawa-1 deep-water wildcat well was spudded in August and drilled to a depth of 3150 metres by drill ship Deepsea Metro 1 in the L8 Block, offshore Kenya.
At the primary target level, the well hit 51.8 net metres of natural gas pay in three zones of Upper Cretaceous channel and turbidite sandstones.
Unfortunately, the well did not find any hydrocarbons in the deeper, secondary target and it was plugged and abandoned.
