Activists with the Amazon Watch group have called for the resignation of chief executive John Watson over the case, which concerns liability for oil contamination in the remote Lago Agrio region of Texaco, which the US supermajor acquired.
According to local reports, a few dozen protesters including representatives of Amazon Watch showed up to the meeting to present shareholder proposals on topics including the environment and political spending.
