Qatargas inks third Japan supply deal

Japan’s Chubu Electric Power Company has signed a sales and purchase agreement with Qatargas for the delivery of up to one million tonnes per annum of liquefied natural gas, starting from next year.

The agreement is for a period of 15 years and will be supplied by Qatar Liquefied Gas, or Qatargas 3, a joint venture between state-owned Qatargas, ConocoPhillips and Mitsui & Co.

This deal is the latest of three long-term contracts signed between Qatargas and Japanese buyers this year.

The company signed an agreement with Tokyo Electric Power Company in June and another in September with Kansai Electric Power Company.
