The 1-QG-5A-BAS well was drilled to 4800 metres in the shallow waters of block BM-J-2, which is 20 kilometres off Bahia state.
The probe was targeting the Alto de Canavieiras pre-salt prospect and encountered hydrocarbon shows during the work, which extended 750 metres below the salt layer.
"QGEP is in the process of analysing the data obtained during the drilling," the company said Monday in a statement, without elaborating on the results.
