QGEP, which saw its development plan approved by Brazil's oil regulator this month, plans a vertical pilot well to collect reservoir data, followed by two horizontal production wells.

Drilling, for which QGEP has signed Diamond Offshore's Ocean Star semisub, is expected to start in late 2013 and run through the first half of 2014.

By early 2014, QGEP expects to sign an FPSO unit with minimum capacity of 25,000 barrels of crude per day to produce the oil, with first production expected for late 2014 or the first half of 2015.
