Oil and gas now accounts for 25% of Canada's greenhouse gas emissions, supplanting the historically leading transportation sector as the biggest polluter. Transportation now accounts for 24% of total emissions in the country.
The report, published last Friday, covers a time period between 1990 and 2012.
Emissions from oil and gas have been rising steadily since 2000, save for a slight decline in 2009.
