The Oslo-listed rig contractor is currently in talks with clients BP and Petrobras to secure extensions of charters on the semi-submersible Deepsea Stavanger and drillship Deepsea Metro II, respectively, with the renewal options set to expire in May.
BG Group has already failed to exercise an 18-month extension option for the sister drillship Deepsea Metro I that has been working for the UK operator off Tanzania at a high dayrate of $676,471.
