SHELL has sent commercial biddocuments to two South Koreanrivals battling to engineer and build a mighty 225,000-barrels perday floating production, storageand offloading vessel for the $12 billion Bonga South West-Aparo project off Nigeria.

Sources said invitations to tender were delivered to Hyundai Heavy Industries and Samsung Heavy Industries, the only players Shell decided to shortlist after evaluating technical responses.

Replies are due back very quickly — the second week of next month — with the operator keen to make a final investment decision in early 2015, before Nigeria's general election in mid-February.
