The probe struck about 200 feet of gross oil pay at three different stratigraphic levels in Jurassic and Triassic formations after being drilled to a total depth of more than 15,000 feet by Awilco Drilling’s semi-submersible rig WilHunter in licence P1666.
The well encountered oil similar to that found at the nearby Fulmar field, after drilling had been stalled by adverse weather conditions and operational difficulties, and will now be plugged and abandoned.
