Neither BP nor Rosneft has commented to confirm the bid reported by news organisations on Thursday morning.
A BP spokesman in London confirmed to Upstream that a 09:00 deadline had been in place today for the British supermajor to receive bids on its 50% share in the company.
However, he would not be drawn on what if any bids had been received, only stating: “We are reviewing options including any offers that we have received.”
