The state-owned oil giant had received permission early last month from authorities to pursue the asset purchases from Alrosa but had not commented on reports it was to pay more than $1 billion.
Rosneft revealed on Friday that it had agreed to acquire 100% of Alrosa subsidiaries Geotransgaz, Urengoi Gas and Irelyakhneft.It is also getting just a shade under 100% of Alrosa Gas.
