The award confirms previous reports byUpstream that JGC and Samsung were in pole position forthe multi-billion dollar turnkey contract for the 1.5 million tonneper annum vessel.
JGCwill be responsible for the engineeringand procurement of the LNG facilities, while Samsungwillconstruct the hull as well as the modular facilities.
JGCclaims the award marks the first FLNG project to be executed by aJapanese company and also the first FLNG project locatedover gas fields more than 1000 meters beneath the ocean's surface.
