The country’s ISNA news agency has quoted sources in Rouhani’soffice as saying that the new leader would nominate Bijan Zanganeh, Reutersreported.

Zanganeh served as oil minister from 1997 to 2005, whenhardline President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad came to office.

However, Iranian oil sources told Upstream earlier thismonth that Zanganeh was not interested in returning to a cabinet job afterseveral years as a university professor.

Former National Petrochemical Company head and Rouhanicampaign manager Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh is also not thought to be interestedthe post, the sources from National Iranian Oil Company and other state oiloutfits said.
