Officers descended with ropes from a helicopter onto the deck of the vessel on Thursday evening and started rounding up activists in the dramatic operation, in which some were seen to be held on their knees on their helideck with guns pointed at them, Greenpeace said in a statement.
It said that all 25 activists on the ship had now been seized, in addition to two that were already being held on Coast Guard vessel Ladoga after attempting to climb the Prirazlomnaya platform at the Gazprom Neft Shelf-operated oilfield on Wednesday in a protest against exploitation of the Arctic’s hydrocarbon resources.
