In bad weather conditions, the Rubicon Vantage floating production, storage and offloading vessel drifted into an exclusion zone designed to protect the production infrastructure.
The Vantage’s mooring chains hit and damaged the production riser with a small amount of oil flowing to the surface.
Production was immediately stopped to start clean-up operations.
About 20 barrels of oil were discharged but all of the oil was dispersed within five hours.
