Joint venture partner Central Petroleum announced the well in EP125 in the Northern Territory had reached its total planned depth of 2295 metres.
Santos started wireline logging before an incident on Sunday at the rig caused operations to be suspended.
Central said no one was injured in the incident and there was no environmental impact.
The operator has launched an investigation, but maintains the well is secure and being monitored.
