The Monaco-based contractor, already a leading player in oil floating production, has developed the twin-hulled FLNG concept as it jostles for position with rivals.such as Exmar, Golar LNG and Hoegh LNG in the emerging sector where the technology remains relatively unproven.

Presenting the concept at Intsok’s annual floating production conference in Oslo this week, chief technology officer Michael Wyllie said the contractor has just launched a marketing process for the unit that would be based on conversion of two Moss-type LNG carriers, with an estimated cost of about $2 billion based on a conversion cost of $1000 per tonne per annum of processing capacity.
