The purchase of shares from First Reserve and "certain members" of Saxon management will give Schlumberger full control of an operated fleet of 87 rigs in 10 countries. The fleet includes 70 drilling rigs and 17 workover units.
Saxon also provides support services to an additional 35 rigs worldwide. Schlumberger described the fleet as "young, technologically advanced" and able to focus on complex development drilling.
