The Oslo-listed player said any discussions about bringing in a partner to become a major stakeholder in North Atlantic Drilling were being put on ice, depsite recent talks yielding "solid progress".
Seadrill, controlled by shipping magnate John Fredriksen, revealed in mid-August that it had struck a preliminary deal with an unidentified "strong industrial player" to take an initial minority stake in North Atlantic with an option to buy a majority interest at a premium.
