Bourbon Offshore is eyeing the order for two firms seismic support units with two options and has sounded out, amongst others, Grandweld Shipyard.
Dubai-based Grandweld is already building a series of six seismic support vessels for the French offshore owner with delivery of the first set for late February and the others to follow at two-month intervals.
The original order, signed in June 2011, had a contract value of around $60 million, but the vessels have since been upgraded as per charterer’s requirements with at least four being bullet proofed at a cost of $300,000 each for work as security vessels.
