The contract is for two specifically-designed drillships with an option for three more units.
The design of the drilships will be based on Jurong’s proprietary Espadon III design to work in ultra-deepwater conditions.
SembMarine said the vessels would be designed for “enhanced drilling operations” and would be equipped with state-of-the-art drilling facilities, a moon pool for a large riser angle and bilge boxes for "superior motion characteristics".
