Under the $806.4 million deal, SembMarine’s Jurong Shipyard in Brazil will build the vessel based on its proprietary Jurong Espandon drillship design. It is scheduled to be delivered no later than the third quarter of 2016.
The drillship is expected to be chartered to Brazil’s state-led oil company Petrobras for 15 years to cater to the oil and gas discoveries in the ultra-deepwater pre-salt plays of the offshore Santos basin.
