Speaking to journalists in London after the explorer announced its results for 2013, van Beurden said that the company would seek to reduce its operating theatres in North American onshore by 50%.
Van Beurden said that North American resource plays lost more than $2 billion excluding identified items in 2013, and said that “improving profitability in North America upstream will be a particular priority for us”.
