Shell took the option on the semisub Noble Clyde Boudreaux to drill two additional wells at its Prelude liquefied natural gas project, where it has been drilling deep-water development wells since September.
Development drilling at Prelude was originally planned to begin in early 2013, but was delayed following a series of difficulties with the rig.
The semisub incurred 45 days of operational downtime in the second quarter of 2013, and 54 days of downtime in the first quarter.
