Basrah Gas Company (BGC), which harnesses associated gasfrom a trio of oilfields, official commenced operations on Wednesday, theAnglo-Dutch supermajor said.

BGC is a 25-year joint venture between state-run South GasCompany (SGC, 51%), Shell (44%) and Japan’s Mitsubishi (5%). The three fieldswhere associated gas will be captured are Rumaila, Zubair and West Qurna 1, allin the south of the country.
