About 50 geoscientists will be joined by a similar number of technical and computing staff as well as downstream fuel and lubricants researchers, and those numbers are set to increase.
Shell UK chairman Ed Daniels told guests the aim was to drive innovation in a number of areas, particularly exploration in the UK and other parts of Europe.
“We are hoping that bringing together different people who will meet at the coffee machine and chat about different things, you start to get a little bit of cross-fertilisation of ideas that perhaps normally in the course of our business would not really bump into each other,” Daniels said.
