Shell has been working towards a concept select decision for offshore compression since 2008 but on Friday it said that ongoing concept select work would be halted.
The decision to the work was backed by all licence partners except Petoro, according to Shell.
Ormen Lange management committee chairman Odin Estensen said the decision was based on an updated economic assessment which incorporated new cost information for the current cost concepts and updated analysis of the reservoir.
