Shell revealed on Wednesday it was selling a 23% interest in the project to Qatar Petroleum in exchange for $1 billion.
The supermajor will retain a 50% operated interest in the project which is currently producing about 50,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
Shell onlybought the 23% stake from Brazil's Petrobras last year for $1 billion to increase its interest in the project to 73%, with India's Oil & Natural Gas corporation paying $529 million to increase its stake from 15% to 27%.
