Test production is believed to have begun on Friday and is to continue until the end of the month, a Reuters report claimed.
A Shell spokesperson told Upstream: "We can confirm that we successfully opened the wells and restarted production (at) Majnoon.
"We are targeting production of 175,000 barrels per day of oil in the next weeks."
Upstream last week quoted Shell's upstream international director Andy Brown as saying the production restart was "imminent" with the Anglo-Dutch supermajor confident of hitting its production obligations of 175,000 bpd.
