Sigma signs off on $672m STX drillship order

Construction on the Bassoe Tech’s BT-UDS design drillshipwill take place at STX Jinhae yard in South Korea.

The newbuild contract also carries the options for four moredrillships.  The first option will be dueto be exercised within 12 months from the contract award, followed by the threeother options in phases across the next 18 months.

The Sigma drillship contract also includes an option toupgrade its two blow-out preventers to 20,000-psi stacks from current the15,000-psi BOPs featured in the initial BT-UDS design.
