The company posted a profit of A$322 million, a 39% drop on the previous period when the company made A$524 million.
Origin said the energy market had minor improvements but ultimately led to the weakened profit.
Energy markets reported underlying earnings of $505 million for the half-year, a 23% drop on the prior corresponding period.
“This reflects a reduction in sales volumes due to the impact of warmer winter weather, prior year customer losses, higher solar photovoltaic usage, lower underlying energy consumption due to energy efficiency and the impact of discounts written in the 2013 financial year,” the company said.
