Buzio-1 is the second deep-water exploration well drilled in Area 2 and targeted stratigraphic traps in Tertiary and Upper Cretaceous-aged channel systems.
UK-listed well partner Tullow Oil said while no hydrocarbons were encountered at Buzio-1, good quality water-bearing reservoir sandstones were found in both targets.
The well was drilled in 1534 metres of water by drillship Discoverer Americas, to a final depth of 3333 metres.
