The main wellbore 30/11-9 S tested the Askja West prospect and encountered a 90 metre net gas column in late and middle Jurassic rocks.
The side-track 30/11-9 A tested the East prospect and encountered a 40 metre net oil column in the same formations.
Statoil said total volumes in the prospects could be about 19 to 44 million barrels of recoverable oil equivalent.
