Statoil spokesman Eskil Eriksen confirmed that contracts have been awarded to three design houses for the hull and to two for the rig topsides.
He would not confirm the identity of any of the contractors, but sources told Upstream the three hull design studies are being carried out by GustoMSC, Inocean and Ulstein Sea of Solutions, while the topsides work will be conducted by Aker Solutions and National Oilwell Varco.
