The concept involving a tension-leg facility, unveiled by the the state-owned operator on Monday, has been selected over an alternative subsea tieback solution to the existing Snorre A and B platforms as part of the so-called Snorre 2040 project to boost recovery from the veteran field.
“The platform solution is the best alternative for maximising production and creating the greatest possible value,” said Statoil’s vice president for Norway development and production Oystein Michelsen.
