The company received a best estimate resource certification of 7.8 trillion cubic feet of gas for Block 2A.
The Ibhubesi gas field is South Africa’s largest undeveloped gas field, and the resource figures highlight the “longevity and commerciality” of the company’s planned gas project.
Sunbird holds a 76% interest in the block and is the operator.
The block is in year five of a 30-year production right from the South African Department of Mineral Resources.
