A spokesperson for the explorer told Upstream that the farm-down was being made for financial reasons. Talisman Energy holds a 60% stake in Topkhana but is currently paying 100% of the costs, the spokesperson said.
The other 40% is held by the Kurdistan Regional Government.
Calgary-based Talisman struck gas and condensate at the block with the first Topkhana well in late 2011.
