The deal, disclosed on Friday, is set to give TGS access to Arcis’ extensive 3D seismic data library in the Western Canada sedimentary basin as well as its processing capabilities.
TGS chief executive Robert Hobbs said the acquisition will enable the contractor to expand into a new geographic market.
“The acquisition of Arcis brings TGS into the very important Canadian seismic market and again increases TGS' processing capabilities and research and development efforts,” he said in a statement.
