The contract was awarded by pipeline specialist Saipem’s Australian unit and will involve the construction of a 4.3-kilomnetre tunnel under a section of water, known as ‘The Narrows’, to connect the mainland near Gladstone to the GLNG LNG plant on Curtis Island.
The tunnel will have a 3.4-metre internal diameter and be lined in segments to serve as at the conduit for the GLNG gas transmission line.
