The French giant will acquire a 40% interest in the production sharing contract for Block M-11 in the Martaban basin, with PTTEP retaining operatorship, under the agreement that remains subject to approval by the Burmese authorities.
A well is due to be drilled by the third quarter of 2013 under the first exploration phase for the block, which covers 5373 square kilometres, with a water depth of between 200 and 2300 metres.
