Noreco, the operator of licence P1650 with a 78% interest, had originally planned to spud the Crazy Horse well in the permit this year using Diamond Offshore’s rig Ocean Nomad.
However, Noreco withdrew from the rig contract in February, saying there was “no certainty from the rig provider as to a time of delivery”. The company was granted a six-month extension from the UK authorities to contract a new rig but decided to push back its drilling plans until 2014.
