Tullow revealed on Friday that the Tapendar-1 had been drilled to a total depth of 3752 metres using the Stena DrillMax drillship but failed to uncover any hydrocarbons.
It said the well intersected the target Miocene interval and encountered excellent quality, well developed, reservoir sands, however they were found to be water bearing at the well location.
The well also hit the deeper Upper Cretaceous target which was aimed at testing a salt flank play but the well failed to encounter any sands.
