The larger players included Portugal's Galp, Spain's Repsol and Anglo-Dutch supermajor Shell, according to data released by Brazil's National Petroleum Agency (ANP). Unsurprisingly, Brazilian state-owned giant Petrobras also registered.
Latin America regional players Gran Tierra of Canada and Geopark of Chile also threw their hats in the ring, with Germany's RWE Dea also signing up.
UK-listed BG and Total of France also qualified to participate in a non-operating role.
