Speaking at the Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association conference in Western Australia, Macfarlane said he was not advocating for lower wages for workers, but rather that the higher wages must come with higher productivity gains.
“It is in the best interest of workers and unions to engage constructively with companies,” he said.
“Spiralling construction costs will also continue to act as a drag on the sector if they continue unchecked.”
