The US Department of Energy gave Pangea permission to export as much as 8 million metric tons per year (mtpa) or just over 1 billion cubic feet of gas per day.
Pangea, which is a joint venture between Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering, Netherlands-based NextDecade International and Oslo-based Hemla, has already applied for similar approval to export gas to countries that do not hold such a trade agreement.
